Kimono Fabrics

Not feeling so inspired after a long day with the kids today, a daily blog is proving to be quite a discipline. I have been collecting Japanese kimono fabrics for years now so I thought today I would share with you a few of my favorite which I have mounted on my office wall

A Skulk Of Foxes

I came across the label A Skulk of Foxes this week.  Love this solid cherry hardwood clock etched with an intricate folk cross-stitch pattern.

Fantastic wooden iphone covers  I think they are just beautiful, if only I wasn't still slumming it with a 3G , check out their website http://askulkoffoxes.com.au

Playing with colour

I finally got my paints out to have a play with a new design I'm working on at the moment
I just love the idea of retro colours, chocolates and oranges, maybe I have been watching too much Mad Men.....
Masking fluid is sticky business and on a hot day it gets messy
I'm liking these new LYRA gouache paints I bought but I think I still prefer water colour paints as a medium

 Drying in the window....

Ivory Silk Train

I picked up a card from the NGV book shop a while back with this amazing embroidery from a 1808 dress from the Neapolitan court; the card has been sitting on my desk, speaking to me, I find it so inspiring.  The image is taken of a close up of an early 19th century ivory silk train, embroidered with gilt threads and coral beads, all sewn by hand of course.

My butterfly project

Last September my husband Benjamin folded hundreds of origami butterflies for Jasmines 1st birthday party.  We decorated our house with them so that they seemed like they were flying around the house.  We moved house the next day so I put them away in a box with the idea to make some artwork with them.
My idea is to sick them all down in rows to create beautiful pattern and texture.  Framed in a box frame it will make a beautiful keepsake of Jasmines first birthday

Oliver keeps himself busy decorating the sliding door
It's on it's way, but quite time consuming sticking the little wings down.  I can't wait to see it finished and get it framed.
