I picked up a card from the NGV book shop a while back with this amazing embroidery from a 1808 dress from the Neapolitan court; the card has been sitting on my desk, speaking to me, I find it so inspiring. The image is taken of a close up of an early 19th century ivory silk train, embroidered with gilt threads and coral beads, all sewn by hand of course.
